2008 Olympic bronze medal winner David Price (19-2, 16KOs) has a tough fight ahead with Erkan Teper (14-0, 9KOs) for the vacant EBU heavyweight title on July 17th in Germany, but he has no issue with facing rising star Anthony Joshua (13-0, 13KOs), who won Olympic gold in 2012, sooner than later.
Joshua demolished Kevin Johnson two weeks ago in two rounds. Johnson had never been stopped in any of his previous fights, which included decision losses to Dereck Chisora, Tyson Fury and Vitali Klitschko.
Price's chin has been called into question after suffering back to back knockout defeats to Tony Thompson, but he feels confident about his chances with a dangerous puncher like Joshua.
"We're ready to make that fight whenever," he told Sky Sports. "If you look at this logically, it suits me better to fight Joshua now. He's only had 13 fights and he hasn't gone past three rounds, so I've got the experience in my favor.
"But I would be willing to fight him any time. It would be better if there was a belt on the line because it would make it more meaningful and a carrot dangling for the winner.
"It's a fight I want to sit down and talk over but it has to be a 50-50 fight. I am not getting 'brought in' like a Kevin Johnson type of fighter.
"I have got my own ambitions and that's what I am working on right now but hopefully, it will happen. Sooner preferably, but later if not."
