Danny Garcia (32-0, 18KOs), who holds the WBC welterweight title, is waiting for confirmation of his next fight.
Garcia captured the vacant title back in January with a twelve round unanimous decision over former beltholder Robert Guerrero. The belt became vacant when Floyd Mayweather Jr. announced his retirement last September after decisioning Andre Berto.
According to the word in industry circles, Berto is a frontrunner to face Garcia in the coming months.
One fighter in particular who's been calling for a fight with Garcia is former four division world champion Adrien Broner (32-2, 24KOs), who in April stopped Ashley Theophane and plans to return to the welterweight limit of 147-pounds.
Broner had previously held the WBA title at 147. He dropped down to junior welterweight after suffering a decision loss to Marcos Maidana in late 2013. Last year Broner made a minor step in the welterweight direction by facing Shawn Porter at a catch-weight of 144-pounds and lost another decision. When he dropped to 140, he won two fights and both by TKO.
Garcia is willing to make the Broner fight happen and sees that match as a pay-per-view encounter.
"[I want the best fights]. We can make the Adrien Broner fight happen. That's a fight... that's something that the fans always wanted because me and Broner, out of the pack, we made the longest stretch as being the most relevant boxers. The Broner fight would be a good pay-per-view fight," Garcia said to Fox Deportes.
There are other options for Garcia in the welterweight division - like next week's battle between WBA world champion Keith Thurman and Porter.
"The winner of Shawn Porter and Keith Thurman. I think that's a pay-per-view fight. You have Kell Brook out there in the UK. You have Jessie Vargas - that's a good unification fight, a Puerto Rican against a Mexican-American fighter," Garcia said.
