Undefeated WBC/WBA super lightweight champion Danny Garcia (28-0, 16KOs) wants to pit his superlative skills against whoever emerges victorious from the September 13th rematch between unbeaten Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Marcos Maidana.
This Saturday, Danny will fight against Rod Salka (19-3, 3KOs) in a non-title fight from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. After this fight, which he's not overlooking, Danny wants to set his sights on either "Chino" or "Money."
Danny has already been giving the Mayweather (46-0, 26KOs) challenge a good deal of considered analytical thought. Asked how he would try to pierce the defences of Floyd's invincibility, he replied:
"The most important thing would be to fight my fight, and not let Floyd dictate the pace. It'd also be important to beat Floyd to the punch, cut the distance and I'd fight my heart out. You also have to throw punches when he does. It would be a classic fight," Garcia said.
Danny stressed that winning the green and gold belt was the fulfilment of a cherished ambition. He said:
"As a young kid, I dreamed of becoming a WBC Champion. And now I've defended my title five times."
