David Benavidez has no shortage of HUGE fights on his radar. In an exclusive interview with BoxingScene, Jose Benavidez Sr. makes it clear that David still wants the biggest names at 175lbs including Dmitry Bivol and Artur Beterbiev. Benavidez has previously said those are two fights he wants to make as he pursues more titles and major challenges. But there’s another name that could make things very interesting: Andy Ruiz Jr. Jose discusses the possibility of an all-Mexican showdown between Benavidez and the former heavyweight champion, along with David’s plans across multiple divisions. And with a potential Jai Opetaia showdown also building after the pair came face-to-face following Opetaia’s latest victory, Benavidez has some massive options ahead.

ProboxTV’s championship series is now on the ProBoxTV YouTube channel for $5/month.

In what might finally be the final nail in the coffin of his career, junior middleweight Delvin Rodriguez (29-9-4, 16 KOs) lost a ten round unanimous decision to heavy underdog Courtney Pennington (11-4-1, 5 KOs) at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.
The three judges were pretty much on point with each other, with tallies of 98-92, 98-92 and 97-94.
The victory was the third in a row for Pennington, who two fights back stunned Boyd Melson with a knockout win and then upset Khiary Gray with a unanimous decision.
Rodriguez has only won a single time since October of 2013. The high point of his career came in 2011, after going through two wars with Pawl Wolak - winning a unanimous decision in the rematch after they fought to a draw in the first meeting.
He then lost a unanimous decision to Austin Trout, but bounced back with an easy destruction of Comanche Boy and a knockout of Freddy Hernandez. He then saw himself get drilled by Miguel Cotto in October of 2013. He came back in May 2014 and fought to a draw with former world champion Joachime Alcine of Canada.
And that draw was followed up by a decision loss to WBA/IBO junior middleweight champion Erislandy Lara in June of 2015. After more than a year away from the ring, Rodriguez returned to action last June to win a decision over Shawn Cameron - who some may recognize as the opponent who 7-0 prospect Madiyar Ashkeyev knocked out last month.
