According to Top Rank's president Todd DuBoef, if Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (44-0, 31KOs) retains his WBC middleweight title on February 4th, when he faces Marco Antonio Rubio in Texas, the next possible opponent is Miguel Cotto (37-2, 30KOs) of Puerto Rico - and that fight would place in the month of July in a city to be determined.
Chavez's co-promoter, Fernando Beltran of Zanfer Promotions, believes Chavez-Cotto could land in Las Vegas - although New York, Dallas and Los Angeles are also possibilities.
"We believe that this fight is feasible. We have no doubt that both of them want the fight. This fight is a lot more interesting than a fight with [Chavez and ]Sergio Martinez," DuBoef said.
