After weeks of intense negotiations, a deal was finally wrapped up for Miguel Cotto (38-4, 31KOs) to pursue his fourth divisional title with a June 7th clash with WBC middleweight champion Sergio Martinez (51-2-2, 28KOs) for WBC belt on June 7. Both camps have officially confirmed that a deal was finalized for the June date, on HBO Pay-Per-View, and taking place at Cotto's second home - New York's Madison Square Garden.

"I am very happy to be back again to my second home, Madison Square Garden in New York, to once again make history in front of my fans," said Cotto.

"I will be ready and prepared to do whatever it takes to bring the WBC middleweight title of the world to my country of Puerto Rico."

Cotto has held titles at junior welterweight, welterweight and junior middleweight. The fight with Martinez will reportedly take place at a catch-weight of 159-pounds, which doesn't pose a problem for Martinez, who never weighed the 160 max for any of his middleweight fights.

"It has been my dream to fight in the big room at Madison Square Garden, a place where many great fighters have showcased their talents," he said.

The Puerto Rican star, now trained by Freddie Roach, is hoping to become the first Puerto Rican boxer in history to win four world titles in four weight divisions. Martinez will be coming off a significant layoff and multiple injuries that were suffered in last April's decision win over Martin Murray in Argentina. But Martinez is the bigger man and he's been chasing a fight with Cotto for several years.
