The fight could be announced by next week, as fans anticipate the mega-fight between World Boxing Council (WBC) middleweight champion Miguel Angel Cotto of Puerto Rico and Mexican superstar Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez. The fight is going to take place on November 21 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nevada - and it will also be part of a Latin festival week in the fight capital of the world.
Certain details are still being worked out, but they shouldn't be an issue. Cotto's legal adviser Gaby Peñagarícano says a lot of progress has been made in the last few days to work out the final details.
On November 20th at the Mandalay Bay Events Center, a concert is taking place with renowned Brazilian singer Roberto Carlos. The day before, the MGM Grand is hosting the Latin Grammys. Both events will serve as a prelude to a purely Latino week in Las Vegas and is poised to be crowned by the clash between Cotto and Canelo.
"The logistics between Mandalay Bay and the various events during the days leading up to the fight will progress very positively," said Peñagarícano to El Vocero.
"Everything is on track in a positive manner and Miguel hopes to make the announcement very soon. Not everything is agreed upon, but we're close."
