A meeting has been set for today, where promotional companies Golden Boy Promotions and Roc Nation Sports will come together to work out the missing details for a finalized agreement that would see WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto of Puerto Rico defend his crown against Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez.
Both sides agree the fight will take place in November on HBO Pay-Per-View, and likely at the MGM Grand or the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.
Eric Gomez, Vice President of Golden Boy (who promote Canelo), hopes everything will be ironed out at the meeting.
Sources are stating that a finalized agreement could be announced as early as next week. Both sides are working very well together and stand united in the opinion that a deal is "very close."
"There are still some details that need to be fixed. We've been negotiating, we're missing some details. It's important to establish [the date and venue] - but not only that, there are other details. We have a meeting with them [on Thursday], with the Cotto people and with Roc Nation," Gomez told ESPN Deportes.
