WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto is backing the position of his legal adviser, Gaby Peñagaricano, with respect to the ongoing negotiations to finalize a fight with Saul "Canelo" Alvarez on November 21 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.

The fight has been negotiated at least twice in the past, and in both instances the negotiations fell apart - including earlier this year. They parties appear to be closer than every, but there are still issues.

"So far we have not signed the contract. We are reviewing the terms and when they are finally [agreed upon], and I will finally stamp my signature on the contract, then the fight will be official," said Cotto to ESPN Deportes. "The bout is scheduled for November 21 and yes we have several points where we disagree."

"If the fight is good, a rematch will happen. So there is no reason to attach [that clause in a contract]. There are things that we're reviewing in the contract, and things we're working on. When everything comes to light, and when things are clarified, the fight will be signed."
