Women’s junior bantamweight LeAnna Cruz climbed off the canvas to edge Regina Chavez and earn an interim title Friday at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia.

In only four of the 10 rounds were Cruz and Chavez separated by four or more landed punches. Chavez dropped Cruz in the closing seconds of the first round, though it seemed like the knockdown happened more so because Chavez injured her knee rather than the punch that Chavez landed.

Chavez threw more punches, while Cruz landed the harder punches. Fifty-one percent of Cruz’s power-punch connects were body shots. The judges scored the fight 95-94, 97-92 and 96-93, all for Cruz.
