It was reported by El Nuevo Dia that the IBF has approved a mandatory elimination bout between Joshua Clottey (32-2, 19KOs) and former welterweight champion Luis Collazo (27-3, 13KOs).

Lindsay Tucker, president of the IBF, said the promoters, Don King (Collazo) and Bob Arum (Clottey) are having problems coming to terms for the fight and a purse bid may have to be ordered.

"It seems that the promoters are having problems coming at an agreement", said Tucker. "If there is no agreement, then we will call for a purse bid."

Collazo has been inactive since suffering a hand injury in his February decision loss to Shane Mosley, his trainer Nirmal Lorick said a win will set him up for a title shot against IBF welterweight champion Kermit Cintron.

"It is ordered that the winner will become the mandatory challenger to Cintrón," said Lorick. He believes the fight may land on the undercard to the Nov. 23 Fernando Vargas-Ricardo Mayorga pay-per-view.
