Promoter Kalle Sauerland, who handles heavyweight contender Dereck Chisora, says they are open to a future fight with Dillian Whyte in December.

The domestic heavyweights nearly brawled during the press conference to announce the Whyte's promotional deal with Matchroom Sport. Security had to intervene to prevent a physical altercation.

Whyte (17-1, 14KOs) is back in the ring on Saturday night when he faces rival Dave Allen in Leeds.

Whyte claims that Chisora (31-6, 17KOs) is only a big mouth when the cameras are around. But Sauerland claims that negotiations to a Whyte vs. Chisora fight has stalled a bit on the other side.

"Unfortunately it's all gone a bit quiet," Sauerland exclusively told Sky Sports. "We're there, though. We definitely want to do it. December would be great. I think Dell would get out in September, he's ticking along, and he'd love to do it.

"I spoke to [Whyte's promoter] Eddie Hearn and we have a basic understanding of how the deal would work. But it seems to have gone quiet from the Dillian Whyte side - I'm not baiting anyone, if it happens next year that's absolutely fine."

"I've always said I don't think it's the right time for Dillian to take a Chisora fight. I think Dillian is a great talent, a great prospect, and he gave Anthony Joshua problems. Let's not look past that. Dillian can have a really successful career but he's certainly been rushed on a few things."

Sauerland is also speaking to Robert Helenius for a rematch clash, so Chisora can avenge a controversial 2011 split decision defeat.

"We're also speaking to Robert Helenius at the moment," Sauerland added. "That was a terrible decision at the time and it's a fight that Dell would love to do to avenge that defeat, so there's options out there."
