For the time being, former middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (47-1-1, 32KOs) is going to stay away from training with Robert Garcia at his Oxnard gym in California.

Chavez, who is preparing for a March 1 rematch with Bryan Vera, was alarmed after witnessing all of the drama two months ago between Freddie Roach and Alex Ariza, who used to train Chavez as a team. Now Ariza works with Garcia. Chavez wants to avoid being caught in the middle or the ongoing feud between both gyms.

"For now I am preparing with Vladimir Baldenebro. I have not decided if we are going to adjust to a new coach. I will not be a part of the problems and I think there is a tense situation there [at the Oxnard gym], and I do not want [to be around] people who can harm me and will continue for now with Vladimir," said Chavez.
