Julio César Chávez Sr., has advised his son Julio Jr. to dedicate himself 110 percent if he wants to return to the elite of his profession.

The legendary champion said his son has a lot of things to improve on for his upcoming fights, after Chavez Jr. had a controversial win this past weekend over Bryan Vera.

“We have to improve many things. Things that are not ok,” Chavez Sr. said. “I wanted that fight [to end by knockout], to have complete control of my son. He must see boxing from another point of view, if not he will not develop.”

Chavez Sr. said he was pleased by the way Julio threw punches and adeptly countered, but he should have thrown more punches, even though his right hand had been injured during the fight.

Now Chavez Jr. might have a rematch with Vera in December to set things straight.
