Former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. asked Floyd Mayweather Jr. about his upcoming return, on May 3, and the undefeated pound-for-pound king told the Mexican star that he didn't know anything about facing Amir Khan on the date - contrary to the numerous stories in the UK that claim the fight is finalized.

As previously reported on BoxingScene.com, Chavez and Mayweather were hanging out on Friday night at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The two fighters were watching the Los Angeles Lakers play the Memphis Grizzlies.

"I went to see the Lakers and while I was there I met up with Floyd. He is a good friend and we were talking during the game. He said that he's going to fight in May, but he does not know against who. I asked if he would be [fighting] with Amir Khan and he told me he didn't even know anything [about that]. He asked me about my return. I told him that I don't have anything firm yet, other than what has been written in the press regarding a rematch with Vera but I do not known anything yet," Chavez said.
