Former middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (48-1-1, 32KOs) is ready to fight but claims his current promoter, Top Rank, have not offered him a fight without the inclusion of a clause that extends their promotional agreement.
Chavez has one fight remaining with Top Rank, before he becomes a full free agent. According to Top Rank, Chavez has until the end of 2015 to step in the ring for the one fight remaining in their promotional deal.
Chavez hopes that he can work something out to return in the near future.
"I'm supposed to have one more fight with them but they have not offered me a fight, but an extension," said Chavez Jr. to A Los Golpes on ESPN Deportes Radio. "There has been a mess there. I never have understood something. [Top Rank CEO Bob Arum] said that [his company has me] until October 2015. If that's the truth, then they do not need an extension. That's what I do not understand."
"We never said no to any fight. We always said yes to the fights but not to the extension. And when we said no, then they refused to give me the fight without the extension. I can fight any fighter, whether it's Golovkin, Froch, Peter Quillin, or Bernard Hopkins. I just do not want to be tied to anyone and what they wanted is a very long stretch and we did not want to extend. We are open to working with them, but no extensions."
