Junior middleweight prospect Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. is hoping that Top Rank's Bob Arum makes good on his promise to make a showdown with Manny Pacquiao. After Chavez's win over Luciano Cuelo in March, Arum mentioned the possibility of matching the young Mexican fighter against Pacquiao at the end of the year. The fight would take place at a catch-weight. Chavez returns to action in July.

Arum says that Chavez is still a serious option for Pacquiao, but WBO welterweight champion Miguel Cotto appears to be the current frontrunner. Cotto still has to beat Joshua Clottey on June 13.

"If Chavez wins in July, that could put him against Pacquiao in November. That is the plan and it is serious. Soon I will talk with Manny, trainer Freddie Roach and their team. I don't want to give wrong names [on who Manny will fight], but let's see what happens," Arum told The Record.

According to previous Pacquiao's team if you have interest in this fight but in the Welter weight Superligero and therefore the Sinaloan also be interested in a fight like this.

Chavez would love to have the fight happen.

"Of course I would fight him. I have no problem with that. Arum said that I was going to fight him," Chavez said.
