Former middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (46-1, 32KOs) has had a change of heart. Last week Chavez Jr. said that his father, the legendary Julio Cesar Chavez Sr., would no longer be a part of his training camps. In a sudden move, Chavez has asked his father to help prepare him and work his corner on September 7th, when he faces Brian Vera (23-6, 14KOs) at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Chavez was trained for his last few fights by Freddie Roach.
This will be the first time in Julio's career that his father will work his corner.
"I believe that I can contribute much more to him [by working his corner]," Chavez Sr. said. "This way I can contribute much more to him with my experience."
