Newly crowned IBF heavyweight champion Charles Martin (23-0-1, 21KOs) is in the middle of his training camp for his April 9th showdown against 2012 Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua (15-0 15 KOs). The loaded pay-per-view card takes place at the O2 Arena in London, UK.
Boxing in the United Kingdom is at it's highest point in recent years with champions in several weight classes. While Martin is focused on Joshua, the 29-year-old is fully aware that a unification chat against WBA/WBO/IBO heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (25-0, 18KOs), the biggest name in UK boxing at the moment, would be a big money fight.
"That fight would be major. That would be really really big. He is over there in the UK too and he has a lot of fans and he has his greatness. I take my hat off to him. I heard he even has me favored in this fight. Right now I am lifting him and he is lifting me. Tyson keep on winning and I am going to keep on winning," Martin told BoxingScene.com.
"We would probably make like $15 million. I am not focused on nothing but the task at hand which is AJ but that would be really big."
Before a Fury-Martin fight could occur, Fury needs to repeat his victory over long time champion Wladimir Klitschko in their rematch and Martin needs to take care of Joshua.
Martin doesn't believe that Fury will have any trouble beating Klitschko for a second time.
"The Klitschko era is over. He is over the hill. You can't beat father time man. You can't get in there with the young lions. With punchers like me and punchers like Tyson," said Martin.
