It's official: The First Lady and WBC interim super welterweight champion Cecilia Braekhus, 38-2-1 (9KOs), meets WBC, WBO and WBF champ Slovenian Ema Kozin, 24-1-1 (12 KOs) October 4 in Lillestrom, Norway.
The show is billed as “The Last Bell” and will be the last fight for the 43-year old Braekhaus – win, lose or draw.
The event will be shown on VG+ Sport in Norway and feature a full undercard with Norwegian fighters.
“I could have continued longer,” said Braekhus, to VG, “but I want a good life outside of boxing. I have been doing this full time since I was 16 years old. I am ready for a new chapter in my life but I love boxing and will of course miss it.”
Professional boxing in Norway was prohibited from 1982 through 2015 and without Cecilia Braekhus it’s doubtful the ban would have been lifted.
