The final fight of future Hall of Fame inductee Cecilia Braekhus will be available to watch – though you may want to avoid spoilers beforehand.

While Braekhus’ challenge of unified junior middleweight titleholder Ema Kozin will be held Saturday, it will stream on tape-delay Sunday, according to a spokesman for 360 Promotions, which promotes Braekhus.

The fight is taking place at NOVA Spektrum in Lillestrom, Norway: Braekhus’ home country, where boxing was illegal for more than three decades until she lobbied for it to be allowed again.

Who is Ema Kozin?

Kozin, 24-1-1 (12 KOs), is a 26-year-old from Slovenia who spent much of her career at middleweight and super middleweight. Her lone defeat in early 2022 came at 160lbs, where Claressa Shields shut her out. 

Kozin has been at junior middleweight ever since and won the vacant WBC and WBO belts in her last fight, which was nearly two years ago, when she took a split decision over Hannah Rankin in November 2023. 

Kozin was originally supposed to defend against Braekhus in August 2024 but did not receive a visa to enter the United States for their planned bout on the undercard of Vergil Ortiz Jnr’s battle with Serhii Bohachuk. 

Who is Cecilia Braekhus?

Braekhus, 38-2-1 (9 KOs), is a 44-year-old who held at least one welterweight world title from 2009 until 2020. She made 25 successful defenses during her reign, including 10 successful defenses as the undisputed champion, starting with a 2014 victory over Ivana Habazin and concluding with a majority decision loss to Jessica McCaskill in 2020.

Since then, Braekhus dropped a unanimous decision to McCaskill in their rematch in early 2021, returned with a shutout of a 19-15-3 foe in late 2022, fought Terri Harper to a draw in an October 2023 bout for a vacant belt at 154lbs, and outpointed Maricela Cornejo – a replacement opponent for Kozin – for the WBC’s interim junior middleweight belt in August 2024.
