Manager Edison Reynoso is disappointed with Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (44-1-1, 31KOs) being forced to withdraw from his December return, but notes that his boxer's course remains the same for 2015.

The boxer, and his team, are now focused on landing a big fight on Cinco De Mayo weekend (May 2) and WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto (39-4, 32KOs) is likely their top target.

"Unfortunately this injury happened and we didn't want Saul to take the risk [of fighting with this injury]. This does not change our plans, which is going for that big fight in May 2015. Obviously everyone knows about Cotto, but we are a big name," said Reynoso.

"We simply want a big fight. This is what the team and Canelo is looking for. We want to find something good for this May, 2015."

Regarding negotiations for a fight with Cotto, Reynoso does not seem concerned about the location or weight.

"We leave these things to the rest of the team. I don't know if the negotiations will be easy, but there is little concern for is if it is in New York, in Texas or in Las Vegas, and [there is little concern about] the weight. We want this big fight for May," Reynoso said.
