Over the past few weeks Canelo Alvarez and Erislandy Lara traded barbs over which fighter's country has the better "school of boxing". Lara started the verbal warfare but it appears that Canelo may have won the war of words.

In an interview with BoxingScene.com and Doug Fischer, Canelo, a student of the game, pointed out that Cuban legends Jose Napoles and Sugar Ramos honed their crafts in Mexico after fleeing Cuba in the wake of Fidel Castro's revolution.

"In my option the best fighters that ever came out of Cuba came out of the Mexican school of boxing. Jose "Mantequilla" Napoles and Ramos are the best of the best Cuban fighters that ever came out," said Alvarez.
