The Championships Committee of the World Boxing Association has ordered a purse bid in the coming days for the mandatory fight between WBA/IBF/WBO/IBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitchko (64-3, 53 KOs) and his official challenger, undefeated British contender Tyson Fury (24-0, 18 KOs).
The Pride of Wales, Joe Calzaghe, says Fury must make Klitschko "fight." Fury will be a huge underdog on the contest. Calzaghe hopes it won't be a usual Klitschko performance, where the division ruler dominates heavy with the jab and eventually gets the knockout.
"Obviously Tyson is a big underdog in this fight. Klitschko has dominated the division for many years and he's seemed to perfect [his style] and not getting caught on the chin. Tyson is going to be hungry, he's going to come in [ready]. He's a big guy but whether or not he has the tools to beat Klitschko is another matter. I know Klitschko is getting on a bit now, but he's still dominating. I want to see [Klitschko] in a fight and hopefully Tyson Fury can put him in a battle and land a few shots on him," Calzaghe told BoxingScene.com.
