Lucian Bute is training to his best abilities in camp, as he prepares for the upcoming showdown with IBF super middleweight champion James DeGale on November 28 in Quebec City. The bout will be televised by Showtime.
Bute (32-2, 25 KO) has warned that DeGale (21-1, 14 KO) is making "a serious mistake" by looking ahead to other opportunities.
He read several recent interviews where DeGale was discussing fights with Andre Ward, Badou Jack and even George Groves.
Bute realizes that he's the underdog in the fight has no problem with DeGale potentially overlooking him.
This will be Bute's biggest fight since the January 2014 decision loss to Jean Pascal.
"All the better if he's underestimating me, if he's already thinking about his next opponent," said Bute to TVA Sports. "I'm glad if he's thinking that way. If he's taking me lightly, it's a good thing for me. I am very confident. I know what I am, how I train. It'll be good for November 28. The new Videotron Centre will explode."
"DeGale, I respect him a lot. He's a very good boxer. He's an Olympic champion in the amateurs and right now he's a world champion. He is the one who is coming here to defend his belt, so I assume that the pressure is on his shoulders. I will do everything I can from my side to regain the belt "
