IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook (35-0, 24KOs) says Amir Khan (31-3, 19KOs) is undeserving of a shot at the pound-for-pound king, WBC/WBA champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (48-0, 26KOs).

Brook sees himself as being a more deserving party to get that lucrative shot. Mayweather is planning to return on September 12th in what he claims will be his final career fight. Brook is scheduled to return on August 29th, likely against Brandon Rios.

“If anyone should get the Floyd Mayweather fight it should be me,” Brook said. “I’m the other world champion at welterweight. There is no chance of Khan getting that fight. He’s done nothing to make it happen. Every time he’s stepped up he’s got stopped.”

Both of the British fighters saw action this past weekend. Khan won a twelve round decision over Chris Algieri on Friday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn and Brook stopped Frankie Gavin on Saturday at the O2 Arena in London.

Brook wants to settle the war of words in the ring, but Khan has other ideas.
