BRAYDON Smith will ascertain the extent of his injuries tomorrow after extending his unbeaten record with victory over Phisanuthep Chaiyonggym despite suffering a suspected broken hand.

Smith took his professional record to 5-0 at Rumours International on Friday night when he scored a unanimous points decision win after six rounds of his featherweight fight against the more experienced Thai fighter.

The Toowoomba pugilist revealed to the capacity crowd after the fight he thought he had broken his right hand in the third round but fought on.

His trainer, Brendon Smith, today said the hand was still badly swollen and they would investigate the extent of the injury tomorrow.

"We suspect (it's broken) in two places at the moment," Brendon Smith said. "We'll get X-rays in the morning.

"It's very badly swollen at the moment. He's going to be out for the rest of the year, no doubt.

"He did a tremendous effort to deal with it.

"Dealing with the pain of it is something new for him. I thought he did a good job under the circumstances."

Fellow Smithy's Gym fighter Jack Asis also recorded a victory at Rumours, with his a unanimous decision after eight rounds against Maxsaisai Sithsaithong.

Asis was in control throughout the featherweight bout.

His camp will now assess his options after taking his record to 27-18-4 (14KO).

"It was great to see how he handled the southpaw. And it gives us plenty to work on in the gym," trainer Brendon Smith said.

Brett Peters also enhanced his claim as best heavyweight on the Darling Downs with a big first round knock-out of debutant Josh Webb.

Peters caught Webb with a big right hand just before the bell for the end of round one sounded.

The shot left Webb on the canvas for a couple of minutes.
