Brandon Adams and Caoimhin Agyarko will no longer face each other on Saturday, as Adams was ruled out of their fight this morning.
“Brandon was experiencing chest pain early this morning and collapsed in his hotel room and was rushed to the hospital,” Mark Habibi, Adams’ manager, texted BoxingScene. “He’s currently been admitted and is undergoing evaluation. More details to follow.”
It marks another hard-luck moment in the career of the 36-year-old Adams, who saw the middle of his career plagued by long layoffs and inactivity. He was set to make his debut with his new promoter (DMG Promotions) and was coming off a massive win over Serhii Bohachuk in September. The bout was a rematch of a fight Adams won in 2021.
Agyarko, 18-0 (7 KOs), was set to fight in the United States for the first time in his career. In September, he defeated Ishmael Davis via a split decision. A 29-year-old from Belfast, Northern Ireland, Agyarko was hoping to achieve a feat that hasn’t been very common outside of Dalton Smith – winning on American soil as a European fighter.
“[Adams is] absolutely crushed for not being able to participate in this fight,” Habibi said. “He gave everything he had in this camp and was looking forward to being at the doorstep of a world title opportunity. His heart goes out to his opponent, Agyarko, who traveled overseas to compete and is looking forward to making this fight happen immediately following his recovery.”
The new main event will see women’s bantamweight Chantel Navarro, who weighed in at 117.0lbs, take on Perla Lomeli, who came in at a career-low 115.5lbs.
Navarro, 7-0 (3 KOs), will be making a series of firsts. A 22-year-old from Glendale, California, Navarro will be headlining her first show, fighting outside of California for the first time, competing in her first eight-rounder and fighting for the first time in 2026. She won a six-round unanimous decision over Naomi Arellano Reyes in December.
Lomeli, 7-7 (1 KO), is a rugged veteran who is entering on a three-fight losing streak. She most recently fought in December, losing a competitive unanimous decision to Natalie Dove. Lomeli, a 25-year-old from Mexicali, Mexico, has competed from junior lightweight all the way to bantamweight, where this fight is scheduled.
Only one fighter came in heavy, as Joaquin Faccio weighed in at 137.4lbs for a scheduled lightweight bout against Jalen Walker.
