In a bizarre turn of events, Cecilia “The First Lady” Braekhus (23-0, 7 KOs), an undefeated multi-title (WBA/WBC/WBO) welterweight champion, has broken ties with her famous coach Ulli Wegner and relocated to the training camp of another German specialist Otto Ramin. Braekhus is set to face Frenchman Myriam Lamare (22-3, 10 KOs) on Jan. 18 in Fredrikshavn, Denmark. Ramin is known to be a coach of top-ranked heavyweight contender Kubrat Pulev.

According to Bild, Wegner wasn’t given a reason on why Braekhus made the switch. It was WBO cruiserweight champion Marko Huck, also a pupil of Wegner, who unexpectedly hit Braekhus with a tennis ball during one of the practices. Huck explained this incident as just an accident, where he threw the ball in a wrong direction.
