Joel Diaz, trainer of WBO welterweight champion Timothy Bradley, spoke with BoxingScene.com's Chris Robinson about Manny Pacquiao's knockout loss to Juan Manuel Marquez on December 8th. Back in June of this year, Bradley won a controversial twelve round split decision over Pacquiao.

Thoughts on The Pacquiao Knockout

It was an extraordinary knockout. They know each other very, very well. Manny Pacquiao has a habit [of lunging in] and he always does it in fights. Honestly I didn't think it would happen that way but it made sense. Marquez really, really timed that punch. He knows him so well. When [Pacquiao] lunged in [Marquez] let go of that right hand and he got him. When we were in training, we were working on the same right hand, but a little different style with Bradley and his foot was hurt [against Pacquiao].

Thoughts on The Rumors or Marquez Using Performance Enhancers

Don't blame Marquez. A lot of people are talking about him using performance enhancers. He just did his homework..that's all. He did a great job, and he really put in some time [in training], he did his homework and got a good grade.

Thoughts on What Pacquiao Should Do Next

Me as a trainer I think he needs an easier fight to build up his confidence again. With A loss like that, a fighter can demoralizes himself a little bit. He's a great fighter. I take nothing away from him. I've been a fan of his for years.

Thoughts on Bradley vs. Marquez

That's a fight that makes sense. Tim comes from a win with Pacquiao. I know that going in the ring with Marquez, everything is against us because of the devastating knockout that he put on Pacquiao. But I just think styles make fights and Marquez wouldn't do the same thing to Bradley that he did to Pacquiao.
