With the bout basically a few hours away, many fighters and trainers have shared their opinions on the upcoming fight between Floyd “Money” Mayweather and Marcos “Chino” Maidana. Opinions range from it being an easy fight for Floyd to other feeling Maidana will be dangerous due to his power.

When BoxingScene spoke to trainer Joel Diaz, he was asked for his opinion regarding Floyd Mayweather.

“Floyd Mayweather is by far the greatest. He was born with a gift and not only that, he’s a very talented fighter naturally. I don’t see anybody beating him in a long time” Diaz would tell BoxingScene.

Cracking the MayVinci code as Mayweather likes to call it, has befuddled fighters and trainers for the last 18 years as Floyd has managed to remain undefeated throughout his career. Given Joel’s success with his stable of fighters including Timothy Bradley, he was asked if he felt he could come up with a plan to defeat Mayweather.

“You know, I never thought about it but I think I would lose a lot of sleep over putting a game plan. I would lose a lot of sleep over trying to put a game plan together and at the same time it would be an honor. And if I were to put a plan together to beat Floyd Mayweather and if I was successful, man, I think that would be better than winning the lotto” said Diaz with a smile.

Diaz does feel his fighter Bradley would actually be one of the few active boxers that would pose problems for Mayweather as he believes Bradley has the right style.

“I think Tim Bradley can give Mayweather some problems because styles make fights. And Tim is a complicated fighter and he’s a smart fighter. He can move he can box, he can brawl and he’s very smart. I think he’s about the only fighter that I could put in there with Mayweather that could give him problems. Other than that, I don’t see anybody else.”

As far as his official prediction for the fight on May 3rd, it’s no surprise who Diaz is picking.

“[The fight is] not going the distance. I think Floyd will stop Maidana”.
