Tony Bellew has warned WBO light-heavyweight champion Nathan Cleverly if he trades punches in their title bout he will get knocked out.

The Liverpudlian was granted a shock world title shot at Cleverly in May and engaged in a fiery press conference, only to pull out hours later as he could not make the weight.

Cleverly went onto defend his belt against Poland's Aleksy Kuziemski inside four rounds, but will now belatedly come toe-to-toe with Bellew on October 15 at the Liverpool Echo Arena.

Speaking in the pre-fight build-up, Cleverly promised to stand up and fight the big-hitting Bellew.

When told about the Welshman's comments, Bellew cut in: "No (he won't trade punches).

"No chance, not even a hope. I am not even preparing for that.

"He trades, he sleeps. You trade, you sleep. Simple as that. We'll see on October 15.

"He has not fought anybody like me. It is a fact. Tell me somebody that fights like me.

"Tell me somebody that will do what I do. There is no one.

"And vice-versa in the same way and we both pose each other different problems and different threats.

"Come October 15 we will soon see."

Bellew cuts a controversial figure in the boxing circuit, having labelled Cleverly a "f****** rat" during their infamous press conference three months ago.

The Liverpudlian makes no apologies for the insult broadcast on live TV and insists it was all pre-planned.

"I knew [the fight] was going to happen from the minute I walked out of that press conference," he said.

"I knew if it wasn't going to happen the next day, it was going to happen.

"It is happening because of me. I knew what I done at the last press conference, I knew what I'd done to get the fight.

"I've done what I've done, I've got what I wanted and it's happening now.

"Everything I do is planned and it was no different then."

As part of Bellew's intention to wind up Cleverly, he turned up to yesterday's press conference donning an Everton shirt with 'And the new [number] 1' emblazoned on the back.

However, the 24-year-old Welshman did not seem at all bothered about the stunt.

"No surprises there. I was just laughing really," he told Press Association Sport.

"It's no surprises with him. It is just one of those things he is going to do to get the world title shot.

"I've just got to get used to things like that but there are no issues.

"I just laughed it off."

Cleverly also brushed off suggestions that he will find it tough fighting in Bellew's home town.

"Whether it was set up in here today, in Liverpool or Wales it makes no difference to the outcome of the fight," he said.

"It is still Tony Bellew and I am still the world champion going in there.

"And I am pretty sure wherever it is I will beat this guy."
