Beatriz Ferreira will roll the dice in Monte Carlo.
BoxingScene has learned that the double Olympic medalist will head back to Monaco. Brazil’s Ferreira will risk her IBF 135lbs title and unbeaten record against Turkey’s Elif Nur Turhan on December 6 as part of Matchroom Boxing’s annual Monte Carlo show.
Ferreira, 8-0 (2 KOs), will attempt the fourth defense of the IBF title she claimed in a technical decision win over Yanina del Carmen Lescano last April 27 in Liverpool, England. She retained the crown for the first time in her previous trip to the French Riviera, in a ten-round shutout over France’s Licia Boudersa last December 14.
The latter win came after her second Olympic bid, where Ferreira returned home from Paris last summer with a bronze medal. She previously claimed a silver medal during the delayed Tokyo Olympics in 2021.
While disappointed that she didn’t claim Gold during 2024 Paris, Ferreira’s pro career has since flourished.
The timing of her next bout will mark four ring appearances in a 51-week span. It will serve as her third fight in 2025, a campaign which included a homecoming headliner when she outpointed Maira Moneo over ten rounds on September 27 in her Sao Paulo hometown.
Ferreira’s lightweight reign came about after a decision to move up from junior featherweight, a move mirrored by her next challenger.
Nur Turhan claimed an interim version of the WBA 130lbs title with a sixth-round knockout of unbeaten Rima Ayadi on August 28 on the road in Enghien, France.
The win was her first after she signed with Matchroom, a move that came shortly after her 47-second blitzing of Shauna Brown on March 1 in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Nur Turhan took the fight – a WBC title eliminator – on just 10 days’ notice after she and her team messaged Matchroom chairman Eddie Hearn almost daily in search of any opportunity.
The moment was seized and then some, as was her secondary title winning effort over Ayadi.
Nur Turhan will now face her third consecutive unbeaten opponent in a bid to become a major titleholder. The ambitious run is hardly a surprise; the 30-year-old Nur Turhan is an integral figure in Turkey’s revitalized boxing scene, particularly among women.
More details are forthcoming on what Matchroom promised to be its best Monte Carlo offering to date. The global promotional outfit returns to the destination for the third straight year after a four-year run from 2016-2019 of at least one event in the luxurious region.
