The plan for WBC super middleweight champion Badou Jack's (20-1-1) next fight is a voluntary defense against former middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (49-2-1). The fight has yet to be finalized but is tentatively set for an April date in either Los Angeles or Texas.
Jack recently spoke to BoxingScene.com and said that while that is likely his next fight, an agreement has yet to be reached.
"There is nothing official yet but they are still working on it. All signs point to it happening and hopefully it is next," Jack explained.
Another fighter on Jack's horizon is IBF super middleweight champion James DeGale. Both fighters have mentioned that they want to unify titles and Jack said that is the fight he wants after Chavez.
"That is the big fight that I want but he has to fight his mandatory," Jack said in reference to DeGale's upcoming fight against Rogelio "Porky" Medina. "I just fought my mandatory. Hopefully we both win our next fights and then we can get it on. That is the fight I want."
As to where the fight would take place, Jack said that he would like to face the UK based fighter on his home turf.
"He said he wants to come to Vegas so why not?" Jack told BoxingScene.com.
