Thomas & Mack Center, Las Vegas, Nevada - BoxingScene.com caught up with trainer/commentator Teddy Atlas who returned to the ring to lead WBO welterweight champion Tim Bradley to a knockout victory over Brandon Rios on Saturday night.
After the fight both Bradley and Atlas were bombarded with questions about who they are going to fight next. Names like Manny Pacquiao, who Bradley is 1-1 against, and Saul "Canelo" Alvarez were thrown around.
When speaking to BoxingScene.com and other members of the media, Atlas had another idea of who he would like to see Bradley face next.
Atlas is hoping the recently retired Floyd Mayweather Jr. (49-0, 26KOs) is willing to come back to the ring for one final fight and face Bradley.
"Hey, maybe somebody named, I don't know if everybody has forgot his name already - Mayweather - I don't know if anyone remembers his name because he has been out of the limelight for a while. Maybe everyone forgot him. Maybe someone like Mayweather wants to come back for number 50 and wants to match intelligence with us. That would be interesting, if he came back to match wits with us. Give us a chance to come up with a game plan to give him a loss. I don't know, again that is in the goods hands of Monica (Bradley's wife) who has done a great job and in the hands of Bob Arum who I think has been the best promoter of the past 50 years to be quite honest. Give him his due," said Atlas.
