In a revealing but rambling video interview with his chosen website home Fighthype, Floyd Mayweather Jr. softens his prior comments about Manny Pacquiao but puts the blast on his former promoter and Pacquiao’s current one, Bob Arum of Top Rank.

You know the good-natured Pacman won’t return such verbal assaults but we all know Uncle Bob, head honcho of Top Rank, makes a regular habit of blasting anyone who raps him or any of his top attractions.

I called the 79 year old Arum, apprised him of some of Mayweather’s rips and he did not disappoint or demur.

In his about eight minute video stint, shot while Mayweather is riding to his Mom’s house for a Sunday night family shindig in Las Vegas, “Money” says he has no personal vendetta against the Pinoy Idol.

“I don’t have nothing against Manny Pacquiao,” Mayweather said. “But it’s like when I was (fighting) for Bob Arum, then I was the greatest fighter since Muhammad Ali…

“I don’t need a middleman and that’s what Bob Arum is, a middleman. I grew up. I can go do it myself, handle my own business. Then I left, then all of a sudden, Floyd Mayweather is scared of this fighter and that fighter. But the only fighters they said I was scared of, they were all promoted by Top Rank…

“Manny Pacquiao is a congressman, a mayor…or something of that nature…We all know boxing is a rugged sport, a very dirty sport but…I don’t have nothing against him (Pacman)…”

Then Mayweather prattles on about he and all other fighters should be subject to random urine and blood testing.

Arum said Mayweather’s messages do not get a wide audience.

“Even the lunatic fringe doesn’t listen to him now,” Arum said. “Are you talking about someone who is normal. Who else has so many (criminal cases) incidents like he does?

“He is not normal. He can’t target Manny so he goes after me, the old fart. I’m an easier target in and out of the ring.

“But only people like you…pay attention to him.”

Perhaps Mayweather would agree with his ex-promoter that he’s abnormal, at least with boxing gloves on.

Reverting to a bit of his oldtime bragadoccio, Mayweather said, “I make good fighters and great fighters look like ordinary fighters.”
