Thomas & Mack Center, Las Vegas - On Saturday night, WBO welterweight champion Timothy Bradley (31-0-1, 12KOs) boxed his way to a twelve round split decision victory over former four division world champion Juan Manuel Marquez (55-7-1, 40KOs). The scores were 115-113 for Marquez, 115-113 for Bradley, 116-112 for Bradley.
Following the contest, Marquez complained that he was robbed of a championship winning decision and proclaimed that he needs a knockout in order to secure a victory in Las Vegas. On the other hand, Bradley felt he gave Marquez a "boxing lesson."
When Bradley won a controversial split decision over Manny Pacquiao in June of 2012, Arum was furious with the judges. This time around, Arum saw no controversy with the scorecards and felt the match could have gone either way - and further said a draw was not out of the question.
"I thought it was an excellent fight between two great professionals fighting. I think the scoring was very good. It could have gone 115-113 either way or it could have been a draw. I just think it was a very, very competitive fight," Arum said.
