IBO cruiserweight champion Antonio Tarver would like to stage a homecoming defense in Orlando, Florida. Tarver, 42-years-old, gave his career a new lease on life with a recent stoppage victory over Danny Green in Australia. Tarver has been talking about a possible rematch with Bernard Hopkins, who faces the mandatory challenger to his WBC lightweight heavyweight title, Chad Dawson, on October 15 in Los Angeles. A Hopkins-Tarver rematch is sure to fall in Las Vegas or Atlantic City.
“I want to fight here in Orlando, a big fight, before I retire while I am still on top. I want to definitely sit down with my manager and see if that’s a possibility. All we need is a network willing to show it and a promoter willing to promote it,” Tarver said to the Orlando Sentinel.
