Former three time welterweight champion Antonio Margarito is planning to return to the ring in the month of July. At the moment, Margarito is unable to fight on American soil. His boxing license was revoked on February 10 after the California State Athletic Commission found him liable for a foreign substance that was discovered in his handwraps before the fight with Shane Mosley on Jan. 24.
Margarito's lawyer is fighting to overturn the decision. If the CSAC's decision is upheld, Margarito will fight in Mexico where several areas like Tijuana and Mexico City have pledged to grant him a license to box.
"That is in the hands of my lawyer. [If the decision stands] I'll fight in Mexico. Bob Arum will tell us where the fight is going to be," Margarito told ESTO.
As far as the ongoing war of words with Puerto Rican rival Miguel Cotto, Margarito couldn't be bothered. Cotto has said in several interviews that Margarito's ban, which only applies to the US, should apply to every country in the world.
"Miguel Cotto can say whatever he wants, I don't care" Margarito said.
