According to the Daily Telegraph, WBA interim-junior middleweight Anthony Mundine (43-4, 25KOs) has turned to his old enemy Jeff Fenech to take his career to the next level in America. Fenech has returned to Australia, after attending the WBC's 49th annual convention which took place in Las Vegas. During the convention he was negotiating on behalf of Mundine with promoters in the United States. Fenech spoke with Top Rank, hoping to get Mundine a shot at their WBA super champion at 154, Miguel Cotto.
"I was going over for the WBC convention anyway so Choc and Khoder gave me permission to talk on their behalf," Fenech said. "When we caught up at the dinner, Anthony said: 'If you can help me, then help me', and I've never said no to helping anyone.
"The thing with Anthony is, I've never said the kid can't fight. I just don't think he's tested himself and taken all the opportunities. I spoke to Bob Arum at Top Rank and Don Majeski, one of the leading matchmakers. I'm confident that we can make it happen."
