After taking a few days off to enjoy the carnival festivities in Panama, the World Boxing Association (WBA) bantamweight champion Anselmo "Chemito" Moreno returned to the gym to resume training. The opponent and return date is unkown. He may possibly fight Lorenzo Parra in a bout that was previously postponed several times. Moreno declined an offer of $300K to face WBC/WBO champion Nonito Donaire in the United States. He waits for a larger sum to come through.
Jacques Deschamps, Moreno's rep, is currently in the United States to further discuss a promotional offer that was extended by Golden Boy Promotions. The American company offered a four fight deal worth $1.2 million dollars.
The attorney for Moreno, Roberto Grimaldo, says none of the details for Moreno's next fight are known.
"At the moment, the important thing is that Moreno begins to train and that he is not too heavy," Grimaldo said. "Although Moreno was not weighed upon his arrival or after completing his training routine, he does not appear to be very overweight. Now we look forward to finally confirm who we are going to face so we can establish our strategy for the fight."
