Brazilian mixed martial arts legend Anderson Silva, 3-2 (2 KOs) in boxing, will fight former UFC champion Tyron Woodley, 0-2, on a December 19 card headlined by Anthony Joshua’s bizarre heavyweight eight-rounder against Jake Paul, it was announced today.
The clash between Silva and Woodley will take place over six rounds, with Woodley replacing Silva’s original opponent Chris Weidman, who had to withdraw from the bout due to injury.
Also on that event at Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida, women’s super-featherweight champion Alycia Baumgardner, 16-1 (7 KOs), will defend her WBA, WBO, and IBF titles against Canada’s Leila Beaudoin, 13-1 (2 KOs), in a fight set for 12 three-minute rounds (bringing it in line with the men’s championship fights).
Elsewhere, on the prelims, Australia’s women’s bantamweight champion Cherneka Johnson, 18-2 (8 KOs), will defend her WBO, WBA, WBC, and IBF titles against Amanda Galle, 12-0-1 (1 KO), and Costa Rica’s Yokasta Valle, 33-3 (10 KOs), will defend her WBC strawweight title against Yadira Bustillos, 11-1 (2 KOs).
Finally, Avious Griffin, 17-1 (16 KOs), fights Justin Cardona, 10-1 (5 KOs), in an eight-round bout at welterweight, and two-time Brazilian Olympian Keno Marley makes his pro debut over rounds against American Diarra Davis Jr., 2-1 (1 KO). That fight takes place at cruiserweight, where Marley will begin his campaign as a pro.
