WBA light-welterweight champion Amir Khan is still unsure of his next challenger after his unification with WBC and WBO belt holder Timothy Bradley fell through. Khan, 24, was then linked with a possible bout with IBF champion Zab Judah, but that bout has had some trouble after Khan lowered his unification contract offer when considering 33 year-old Judah.
27 year-old two-belt champion Bradley was offered a $1.4 million purse along with a 50-50 split of the UK pay-per-view earnings, which he rejected and when a deal was offered to New-Yorker Judah, it was considerably less and with no PPV percentage, but their negotiations have continued.
It looks like a three-horse race in the bid to face Khan on July 23rd, with interim WBA and WBO lightweight champion Robert Guerrero in the hunt, along with Erik Morales and Judah. Guerrero, 28, is keen on moving up a third weight division after his impressive dismantling of Michael Katsidis to become number one contender to Juan Manuel Marquez’s titles at 135lbs.
34 year-old Morales is due to fight on July 30th in California, but a potential world title challenge would change all of that as the WBA title match-up would almost certainly take place in Las Vegas. “El Terrible” produced a dazzling display with only one eye against Marcos Maidana in his last bout, to put himself firmly in the title picture at 140lbs.
Besides the three mentioned. Another boxer gunning to get Khan, is WBA interim-140-pound champion Marcos Maidana, 27, who has already fought a ‘Fight of the Year’ bout with Khan, is the mandatory to Khan’s belt.
