British superstar Amir Khan (30-3, 19KOs) is less than a week away from his showdown with former WBO junior welterweight champion Chris Algieri.

Algieri returns from a November battering at the hands of eight division king Manny Pacquiao. He went down six times in the contest but managed to last until the final bell in one-sided pay-per-view main event from Macau, China.

Khan is coming off the back of a dominating performance over former two-division champion Devon Alexander.

A win over Algieri could land Khan his most sought after fight, a September 12th collision with WBA/WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr.

“If it is a bad performance against Algieri then I don’t think Mayweather can happen, but if it’s very good it has to happen. That is why this fight is so important and I have to look good. Mayweather needs a guy who is going to give him problems. Styles make fights and he has a style that won’t be easy to catch, but easier to catch and hurt him than others," Khan told The Mirror.

“There will be comparisons between what I do and what Manny did against Algieri. Me and Manny have different styles, but mine will give him problems. He has never faced anyone like me when it comes to explosiveness, speed, movement, height, reach and power. Manny put him down six times, but if I see him hurt I will put him away. I am not going to put pressure on myself and say I will do better than Manny, but I am going to win convincingly.”
