Amir Khan is gearing up to bounce back from two back to back losses and return to his winning ways as he takes on undefeated Carlos Molina on December 15th at the Los Angeles Sports Arena.
After his upset loss to Danny Garcia in July, Khan decided to make crucial changes to his team as he separated from trainer Freddie Roach and is now training under the tutelage of Virgil Hunter in Northern California. Khan feels it was a change that was needed and assures you will see a new and different Amir Khan come fight night.
“Yes definitely. You [should] expect a different Amir Khan in there. I'm 25, I'm still learning, I'm still improving and I'm still changing my style. And I think this is a style for me. I think with Virgil, he'll bring the best out of me and I think he is going to help me improve on those mistakes I make. I’m just looking forward to it and come December 15th you will see the new Amir Khan” stated the Bolton native.
Khan admits he’s been fighting more with his heart than his head in his last couple fights which have proven to be a mistake. It has made for exciting fights but he understands he should be approaching fights much different and being smarter.
“It's all about thinking about things instead of just rushing and throwing big shots. Being what's best for Amir Khan. Defensively and offensively being a good fighter. I'm going to stick to being smart, hit and move, use my defense the right way. Block the shots and come back with counter shots” said Khan.
Even though Khan is one of the most established fighters in the sport, he’s still looking to put on a great performance and prove to people that he’s back and improved.
“It’s all about getting a good win. Whenever you get a win, you just don't want to win, you want a good win that's going to make people think 'wow, Amir is back. A new Amir Khan and he's got a good style and he's more explosive, much better and he's improved'. That's what I want people to see, a new improved Amir Khan”.
