Former champion Amir Khan (31-4, 19KOs) is open to the possibility of facing IBF welterweight world champion Kell Brook (36-0, 25KOs).
Khan was in action earlier this month, when he moved up to a catch-weight of 155-pounds to challenge then WBC middleweight champion Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez. The Bolton man was knocked out in six rounds.
Brook is going to return to the ring, likely on August 27th in a unification with once-beaten WBO champion Jessie Vargas.
Khan and Brook were in talks earlier this year for a date in June. Their talks broke down when Khan decided to go with Canelo.
Fans in the UK are still hoping that Khan and Brook trade punches in the not too distant future.
Khan is not very fond of Brook's promoter, Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport. But as long as Brook remains under the Matchroom banner - Khan has no interest in facing him.
Khan told talkSPORT: “It’s not going to happen! It seems to me like they don’t want it. I gave them the opportunity to take the fight, but they don’t want it. That fight is never going to happen. If it happens it’ll be a miracle. I’m ready for Kell, whenever. But if he’s with Eddie Hearn it’s not happening.”
After the vicious knockout at the hands of Canelo, Khan has been medically evaluated and given the green light to fight again. Khan plans to drop back to the welterweight division, where he's still the mandatory challenger to WBC world champion Danny Garcia.
“I’m in great condition," he continued. "Obviously the fight didn’t go okay, it didn’t go the way I wanted it to go, but now I’m back in the UK and am fine. All the tests were fine, and I’m ready to go again. I’m still young and I’m still hungry.”
