WBA 140-pound champion Amir Khan expects to face Floyd Mayweather Jr. within the next twelve months. Khan faces IBF champion Zab Judah in a unification bout on July 23 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. If Khan defeats Judah, he plans to take one more fight at 140-pounds and then he will rise to the welterweight division. Mayweather challenges WBC champion Victor Ortiz on September 17 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
“I think within 12 months the Mayweather fight will happen. It is three fights away. If I beat Zab Judah and then have one more contest at 140lbs. I will then move up to welterweight where I will carry my power. The cut in weight is affecting my power at the moment," Khan told Gareth Davies of The Telegraph.
