After thirteen-fights on the network, super middleweight contender Allan Green (26-1, 18KOs) is no longer interested in fighting on ESPN's boxing programs, Wednesday Night and Friday Night Fights.

“I’m the only world ranked fighter that fights on ESPN,” Green told Tulsa World. “I love the network and the exposure, but those fights don’t do anything in terms of real money or setting me up for (championship opportunities). Showtime has been wanting to deal with me for a long time. No more ESPN. I don’t want to wait around for HBO. Let’s deal with Showtime.”

“I’m a world-rated fighter. I want to fight in bigger venues for more money. I can’t make my hometown proud unless I get a big fight. I don’t want to be known as just a good local fighter, and I know I can’t be a world champion by fighting on ESPN.”

Green was due to fight on ESPN in February against Antwun Echols in Louisiana. He withdrew on the eve of the fight and was placed on suspension by the local boxing commission. Green told the paper the suspension is not valid because he never signed a fight contract and does not have a license to box in the state.

“I can’t be suspended in Louisiana because I never had a boxing license in Louisiana. Plus, I never signed a contract,” Green said. “It doesn’t make sense. It’s like having your driver’s license suspended when you don’t have a driver’s license.”

He plans to return to the ring in July and may agree for an opportunity to fight for the IBO's vacant title.
