IBF welterweight champion Devon Alexander (24-1, 13KOs) plans to make a statement when he takes on Lee Purdy (20-3-1, 13KOs) on Saturday night at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. Purdy is a late replacement for the previous mandatory challenger Kell Brook, who withdrew with an injury. Alexander-Brook had been postponed three times. Purdy aims to make the most of his championship opportunity and Alexander is prepared to do everything in his power to stop him.
"I know he's a tough cookie who is coming to take my belt. I'm 100% ready and 100% prepared for him. I think I am talented enough to adjust to any situation, any style in front of me. Lee Purdy is in the wrong place at the wrong time," Alexander said.
Alexander-Purdy is the Showtime televised co-feature to Lucas Matthysse vs. Lamont Peterson.
