Dr. Ching Kuo-Wu, president of the world governing body for amateur boxing (the International Boxing Association or AIBA) has fired controversial AIBA executive director Ho Kim, with immediate effect.

Ho Kim was the center of a rash of protests during the last Asian Games in South Korea mainly concerning bum decisions that favored the hosts.

In announcing the changes to senior management, Dr. Wu said “in order to ensure that there is no interruption he has immediately appointed the current deputy executive director Karim Bouzidi to the position of executive director. Karim Bouzidi also remains Chief Executive Officer of the World Series of Boxing.”

In his statement the AIBA president declared ‘ Its time for AIBA and the world of boxing to move in the new direction and therefore I feel that a new vision and leadership are paramount for us to achieve our four year plan which was unanimously approved at the AIBA Congress in Jeju.”

Dr. Wu added that he wished to thank Ho Kim “form his contribution to the development of AIBA and the resoectful relationship wer have maintained during his eight year tenure.”
